Rompezaragüey breaks bad luck . It is one of the most popular plants belonging to the Yoruba deity Changó. It is used for cleansing and purifying homes, removing "saltiness" and witchcraft. A cross made from this plant is placed behind the door, and another is drawn below it with cocoa butter.
Also called “Curse Remover,” it grows in the Greater and Lesser Antilles, Florida, and tropical America, on riverbanks, hills, and bushes.
“With a single bath of zaragüey, rue, parsley, apasote, pine nut, paradise flower, and scorpion grass—all boiled together,” says the doctor .
It belongs to: Shango, Oggun, Yemaya, Babalu Aye, Oshosi and the Ibeyis. This plant is used to prepare purification baths or despoils for people and also to cleanse houses because it eliminates evil and spells. To prepare purification baths for people, rompezaragüey is cooked with rue, parsley, apasote, pine nut, paradise and alacrancillo. Mixed with vincedor, it serves to ward off evil and find the spiritual path. It is also used in palo mayombe to prepare the seven purification baths of the future initiate.
